Submitting Your Letter

We’re collecting handwritten or typed letters for a book titled
A Letter to the Person Who Changed My Life.

If you’ve ever wanted to thank someone who changed your world
— even if they’ll never read it — this is the moment.

Say what you’ve always wanted to say —To the one who made a difference to you.

To the person who helped shape who you are. To the person who believed in you when no one else did. To the one who lifted you up in the hardest moment. To the person who taught you to believe in yourself.

Your story belongs here.
It can change lives.
Don’t let your story stay unwritten.

This is an overview of the guidelines for the letter. Please download the actual guidelines and disclosure agreements and follow them to your best ability:

  • Length: 300–1000 words or 1-3 pages

  • Format & Submission: Typed or handwritten and sent through the mail or emailed. To submit it you can email us at alettertotheperson@gmail.com or submit it through our PO Box (more instructions in the guidelines)!

  • Tone: Honest, personal, and from the heart. Humor, warmth, and even bittersweet moments are welcome.

  • AI Use: Brainstorming and grammar help is fine — but the heart of the letter must be your own.

  • Opening line: You may use greetings like “Dear Stranger,” “Dear You,” “To the One Who…” or another anonymous greeting. Please do not use real names in the opening.

  • Deadline: Submit your letter by January 15th to be considered for the second round of selections. More rounds will follow—and if your letter is chosen, you’ll receive a free copy of the published book!
