Q: Who can submit a letter?
A: Anyone! Whether you're a teen, adult, older adult, or even a child, if someone has changed your life, your story has a place here. We welcome all voices and experiences to share their heartfelt letters, including those from kids who want to express how someone has impacted them.

Q: Where do I submit the letter?

A:  You can submit it online by emailing us at alettertotheperson@gmail.com or send it to our P.O. box. Our PO box is PO Box 880703, San Diego, CA 92168. If you send it to our P.O. Box, we will try to preserve your handwriting in the book! Please see more details in our PDF guidelines below.

Q: Can I remain anonymous?
A: Absolutely. You can publish anonymously or under a pen name.

 

Q: Will all letters be published?
A: Not all submissions will be published, but every story will be carefully read and considered.

 

Q: Do I need to be a writer?
A: Nope. Just write honestly from the heart. That’s what matters most.

 

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum word count?
A: Yes. Please keep your letter between 300–1000 words. This helps us maintain consistency and allows room for many voices in the book.

 

Q: Can I submit a handwritten letter?
A: Absolutely. write a  handwritten letter and send it to our P.O box if that feels more personal. Just make sure it’s clear and legible. Our PO box is PO Box 880703, San Diego, CA 92168

Q: What kind of stories are you looking for?
A: We’re looking for true stories of impact—moments when someone changed your life, even in a small way. It could be dramatic or simple, joyful or bittersweet. If it stayed with you, it belongs here.

Q: Can I write about more than one person?
A: Each letter should focus on one person or moment—but you’re welcome to submit more than one letter if different people have shaped your life in meaningful ways.

Q: Is there a fee to submit?
A: No. Submitting a letter is completely free. This project is about storytelling and connection.

Q: Is there a deadline to submit?
A: We have rolling deadlines with different rounds. Submit by January 15th to be considered for the second round of selections!
